How about bungees? The best way to fasten a cart to your kayak is to use 2 or 4 different bungees which fasten to the four corners of the cart and either around your cockpit or to the corners of your cockpit. The bungees have to be the right length or you will be in for more work than you intended. Use our adjustable bungee hooks. They can be adjusted for length and you can get exactly what you need. You order 8 hooks plus 4 bungees of about 24" length for the perfect setup. If you prefer to fasten across your kayak, you will need 4 hooks and 2 bungees of about 4 or 5' length. You figure it out! You must add 12" in length for each bungee; this length; is used up by two adjustable hooks (because the bungee doubles back). We supply top grade 3/8" bungee - very strong. (This is not the stuff you find at your local discount store). Hooks cost 60 cents each, and the bungee sells for 60 cents a foot. The hooks are plastic and should last forever. These plastic hooks don't take well to twisting; on a sit-on-top put some short rope loops thru your pad eyes and fasten the hooks to your rope loops.
Here's a pic of the hooks.

HERE'S SOMETHING to think about. If you take a real wide boat like a sit-on-top and have to negotiate irregular terrain, the "tip factor" comes into play. How easily will the cart tip over on its side? So, here are the wheelbase measurements of the various carts. This measurement is taken from the axle at the outside of the wheels, therefore it is the MAXIMUM WHEEL BASE. STANDARD CART 26"; SMALL CART 24-1/4".
A FEW FACTS ABOUT CARTS Carts work fine for transporting kayaks, but if you leave a polyethelene boat on the cart for long periods of time - the boat may dent, as there is not enough load bearing surface present. Don't store your boat on your cart.
